“My undergraduate experience at the University of Idaho participating in the academic and campus life and being a member of the Vandal track and cross country teams was an unforgettable one. By contributing to the VSF, I feel that I am giving back to the University for that experience and education and hopefully providing present day and future Vandal scholar athletes opportunities similar to the ones I received as an undergraduate.”

UNDER 30 CLUB

In 1992, the Under 30 Club was created to encourage recent graduates of the University of Idaho to donate to the Vandal Scholarship Fund.

Based on the premise that new alumni are in the process of establishing their careers and do not have the disposable income to give at a level that would qualify them for significant benefits, it was decided to recognize the gifts made by this special group at double the actual amount of the contribution. As long as the gift made is at least $125, and the donor is under the age of 30, the recognition and benefits will be for double the amount of the donation.

The VSF financial reports indicate that the Under 30 Club is growing in membership numbers, annual contribution numbers and the size of the gifts made. It is evident that those people that gave immediately after graduation years ago have maintained and increased their giving over time and have also encouraged their peers to join them in support of the student-athletes that are receiving scholarships to attend the UI. Becoming a member not only enhances the overall structure and purpose of the group  and guarantees you the donor benefits outlined for the various club levels, but potentially includes you in social activities that improve your networking opportunities while reconnecting you to the University of Idaho.

The Vandal Scholarship Fund is determined to continue to build on this program and will be targeting the urban areas in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and California to increase participation throughout FY 2008. You can make a difference and all gifts are important- the goal this year is to increase overall membership in the VSF and your participation in the Under 30 Club is a vital component of reaching the objectives in each region.
